I Take Photos for Penn

Since September 2015, I have been taking photos for the Penn Office of University Communications, which manages all Penn social media accounts. I am one of six undergraduate "Visual Storytelling Interns," tasked with the role of documenting the life of a Penn student. My introduction to this role was by chance. After I had spent an entire week documenting Penn's New Student Orientation in August 2015, I was referred by the NSO coordinator to my current boss who runs the Penn social media. It turns out that the vision for Penn Instagram account is to showcase a student-driven view of student life, and that's what I had already been doing through video.

I have taken over 4,000 photos in total since September 2015. Each week I submit on average 20 photos to my boss, who then chooses a couple of his favorites and posts to the Penn Instagram. Additionally, I built a website called Pennstagram for the Penn community to submit photos for the Penn Instagram account.
